Description: Remembered through the ages as the seafaring weapon of
choice, these swords have an history which stretches back to ancient times. Not
only were they made famous in close quarter melees as pirates boarded
treasure-laden galleons during the great "Age of Sail", they also have
seen action as standard issue among many of the world's great navies. In 1917,
the U.S. Navy decided to replace its Model 1860 cutlass which had been in
continuous service for 57 years, with a new model. Cold Steel's¨ modern
recreation of this classic fighting sword is as authentic as possible. Just like
the original, both feature a half basket guard stamped out of heavy 18-gauge
carbon steel, blued to match the blade. The handles are fashioned from carefully
shaped hardwood painted brown and secured to the full tang by three heavy brass
cutler's rivets. The 1917 series swords are available with a 28" blade
(Cutlass) or a 31" blade (Saber). Both feature blued blades to curtail

Description: There are two basic types of straight bladed swords used
in China. One is fairly long and heavy known as the Wu Jian or "Martial
Sword". The other is substantially lighter and called a Wen Jian or
"Scholar's Sword" and was primarily carried for personal self defense.
After studying books and video tapes on the history and use of both weapons, we
have decided to make our own battle worthy Gim (Wu Jian) for serious collectors
and practitioners of Chinese Martial Arts. The blade of our Wu Jian is made out
of 1050 spring steel and measures 30" long by 11/2" wide. For cutting
and slashing, both edges are quite sharp and they terminate in a strong, useful
point for stabbing. The traditionally styled guard and pommel are cast out of
thick sturdy brass and fit snugly on a stout Rosewood handle that is both highly
decorative as well as functional.

Grosse Messer hails from central and northern Europe where, in far off days of
old, noblemen and peasants alike relied on it to protect hearth and home from
the ravages of brigands, cut throats, outlaws and other assorted characters of
ill repute. Due to its stout, wide blade and generously sized handle, it could
be wielded in one or both hands and was capable of shearing through chain mail
or cutting a man in half with a single strike. Our version of this elegantly
simple yet remarkably effective weapon sports a hand forged blade of 1050 high
carbon steel that’s so sharp we have used it to split a telephone book in
half, with a single blow! The guard and heavy pommel are made from blued steel
and feature rosewood handle scales riveted to the sword’s full tang. For

Description: Napoleon's cavalry was the bane of the European
battlefield. While his horses were second string, his swords were absolutely
first rate. They were manufactured in a state of the art factory dedicated to
producing the finest edged weapons of the day. The medium weight saber we offer
is a cavalry trooper's chosen weapon. It posses excellent cutting and slashing
capability and still remains useful for a thrust. In fact, it was so popular
that it remained in use long after Napoleon's star had fallen and was wielded by
both sides in our own Civil War. In its general overall appearance, it very
closely resembles the United States 1860 Light Cavalry Saber. However, this
design is slightly different and makes for a far more effective and durable
weapon. The thick, moderately curved blade is forged out of 1050 Carbon steel
and features a long, wide fuller and a very sharp, practical point. The grip of
the 1830 Napoleon Saber is equally well made. It is wrapped in black leather and
strongly protected by a stout, brass three bar hilt. The whole package comes
with a heavy duty polished steel scabbard with dual rings so it can be easily
attached to your baldric or sword belt.

Prussian allies under General Blucher in the Battle of Waterloo. The blade was
derived from the ferocious Indian Talwar and was reviled by the French who
protested its use due to the horribly destructive wounds it inflicted. In fact,

continued to use it right up to the beginning of the 20th century! If you want a

Description: The advantage of the sword point over the edge became
increasingly evident by the end of the 16th century. The Rapier, with its long,
elegantly thin profile which emphasized its point, became the popular choice in
civilian self-defense. It was however a somewhat unwieldy weapon especially when
it was used in narrow, crowded streets and alleyways. Eventually a more
sophisticated, shorter and lighter version emerged that by the end of the 17th
century had evolved into an entirely new weapon, the Small Sword.
Civilians carried it for as long
as swords remained an integral part of fashionable dress. Its primary advantage
was its stiff, lightweight blade which was forged in a triangular cross section.
It was a highly lethal weapon, ideal for thrusting, and hung conveniently from a
sash, baldric, or belt. The hilt (compared to the Rapier’s) was simple and
smartly functional, consisting of no more than an elliptical plate, or two
shells and a light knuckle guard.

Description: The typical Viking sword of the 9th and 10th centuries
featured a long wide blade with a broad central fuller and two keen edges. The
preferred stroke was a hard slash or chopping blow, so the point was fairly
rounded but was just acute enough to be useful for thrusting. A simple guard
with forward curving quillions was often utilized and combined with an equally
utilitarian wooden handle that was covered with leather, bone, or even cast in
brass. What really made the Viking Sword so distinctively recognizable from its
contemporaries was its heavy 5 lobed pommel used to balance the long blade. Our
sword has features in common with its historical counterpart. It has a double
edged blade, hand forged out of high carbon steel and then polished to a
brilliant lustre. The wooden handle is covered in leather and is supported by a
simple, elegant guard at one end and an equally handsome 5 lobed pommel at the
other. Both guard and pommel feature traditional Celtic knot
embellishments.

Sword Holder Wall Plaque*
This 9.5" X 9.5" wall plaque is adaptable to many swords
thanks to a customizable mounting system. A drill bit is included so that
you can position the sword by finishing the pre-drilled pilot holes to insure
